A love of classic songwriters such as Leonard Cohen & Joni Mitchell is evidently at the core of Sonia Stein’s sound. Accompanied by nothing but a piano, Sonia has been crafting melodic pop hooks since she was 15 years old.Sonia’s luxurious slow-burn R&B-tinged vocals caught the attention of producer Liam Howe (FKA Twigs, Adele, Jessie Ware) and the pair immediately hit it off, resulting in the incredible ‘One Of Those Things’ EP, followed by ‘Eat Your Words’, ‘See Me Now’, ‘Letters’ and most recently the ‘Lessons From Earth - Part 1’ EP, all showcasing her songwriting but also her extensive vocal range. From exquisite balladry through to delicious pop, her songs unfurl themselves delicately, slowly creeping up on you when you least expect it. Like a sort of quiet devastation, these are songs that work their way into your subconscious and never let go. Work that showcases Sonia’s classic background, while giving a nod to her more contemporary influences, such as Regina Spektor & Fiona Apple. Sonia’s debut album ‘Lessons From Earth’ is out now.
